Pink Day
Pink DayFriday 7th November was the first of what we hope will become an annual event, Think Pink Westlake day. Mayor and President of the Board of Trustees, Laura Wheat, herself affected three times by breast cancer, gave a moving thank you to everyone for their support and introduced members of the staff and community who have survived cancer.
They were recognized and warmly applauded by students, staff and guests alike. Everyone gathered showed their support for this cause by dressing in pink, while there were over two hundred orders for Think Pink Westlake t-shirts as well as other donations and fundraisers such as selling pink lollipops in car line had been organized. Over $1500 was raised by the community and was donated to Ms. Gynna Harlin of the Susan G. Komen Organization. On behalf of everyone involved in this project, I would like to thank D'Ann Sullivan for her enthusiasm for this project and for organizing this event.
